“Say Yes” Buffalo

In March 2013, the Nyamekye Foundation made a large contribution to the “Say Yes” Buffalo Scholarship.  This initiative is dedicated to providing postsecondary tuition scholarships for graduates of Buffalo public and charter schools.  This program makes it possible for students to push past economic and social barriers to reach their educational goals.

Greg Daniel, MD, MBA, Chair of the Nyamekye Foundation, said, “Education is essential for students to set, meet and exceed their greatest expectations in life. Our contribution to student scholarships aligns with our collective mission to continuously improve and to be active, contributing members of our community.”

“Say Yes” recognizes that the education of residents has a direct impact on their community’s economic well-being.  “Say Yes” notes that the 54% graduation rate at Buffalo public schools has a direct impact on Buffalo’s consistent ranking as one of the poorest cities in America.  To this end, “Say Yes” looks to increase graduation rates and education levels by providing assistance to students, which in turn will impact the local workforce and therefore, the local economy.
